Remove AI labels and other metadata
PicBrewery removes AI labels and the rest of the file metadata. It decodes an image to pixels and writes a new JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF in your browser. The color profile stays.
How to remove AI labels and metadata
- Open PicBrewery.
- Drop a JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, BMP or SVG onto the upload area.
- PicBrewery re-encodes JPEG, PNG, WebP and AVIF from the pixels. Compare sizes and pick any column.
- Download that file, or use Download all as ZIP for a batch. The original file on your disk is unchanged.
Labels stored in the file
These blocks live next to the pixels. The downloaded file is encoded from pixels only, then a color profile is attached, so the blocks below are absent from the result.
- C2PA / Content Credentials. A signed manifest that the image was created or edited with AI. JPEG stores it in an APP11 segment, PNG in a
caBXchunk, AVIF in container boxes. ChatGPT, DALL·E, Adobe Firefly and other tools that embed this manifest lose it on re-encode. A separate.c2pafile sitting next to the image is not part of the upload. - IPTC Digital Source Type inside XMP. Values such as
trainedAlgorithmicMediaandcompositeWithTrainedAlgorithmicMedia. Typical of Photoshop Generative Fill and Firefly. - XMP. An XML packet with the generator name and edit history. JPEG APP1, PNG
iTXt, a WebP XMP chunk, or an AVIF item. - EXIF.
Software,Artist,ImageDescription,UserComment, plus GPS and dates. Often how Midjourney and some Stable Diffusion JPEG exports are marked. - PNG text chunks
tEXt,iTXtandzTXt. Theparameterskey (sometimesprompt, workfloworComment) holds the prompt, seed and model from Automatic1111, ComfyUI, Forge, InvokeAI and Fooocus. - JPEG COM. A text comment segment.
The ICC color profile is not an AI label. PicBrewery copies an embedded profile from JPEG, WebP and AVIF back into the output. If the source had none, it adds a small sRGB profile.
Invisible watermarks in the pixels
Google SynthID, used by Gemini and Imagen, is written into the pixels and is built to survive compression, cropping and filters. Re-encoding does not target it. The same applies to other invisible watermarks that are not a separate file tag.
Visible marks and traces outside the file
A corner logo, a visible Midjourney mark, or text drawn on the picture stays: those are pixels. The file name, Google “About this image”, and reverse-image search live outside the file.
Frequently asked questions
Does PicBrewery remove C2PA Content Credentials?
Yes, from the file you download. Re-encoding starts from pixels, so a C2PA manifest in the original JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF is not copied. A separate .c2pa sidecar next to the image is not inside the upload.
Does it remove Stable Diffusion prompt text?
Yes. PNG text chunks such as parameters, prompt and workflow are not copied into the new file.
Does it remove Google SynthID?
No. SynthID is an invisible watermark in the pixels, built to survive compression, cropping and filters. Re-encoding does not target it.
Is the color profile removed?
No. An embedded ICC profile from JPEG, WebP or AVIF is written back. If the source had none, PicBrewery adds a small sRGB profile.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Decoding and encoding run in WebAssembly inside your browser.
